Title: Billing Specialist

Reports to: Office Manager


  • Monday through Friday
  • 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (or later if required to complete all daily activities)
  • On occasion, some evening and weekend work may be required


  • Full time
  • Hourly

The primary function of the Billing/Credentialing Specialist is to execute the billing and credentialing tasks in a smooth, timely and efficient manner.

Essential Functions

  • Claims on hold and zero pay claims
  • Weekly bank deposits
  • Patient and insurance company refunds
  • Collections
  • Unresolved billing issues
  • Maintaining electronic funds transfer websites
  • Financial Reporting
  • Provider, hospital and insurance company credentialing
  • Maintain HIPPA and OSHA compliance at all times

Non-Essential Functions

  • Assist with special projects as needed
  • Support the marketing and advertising efforts
  • Cross train on the basic tasks of the receptionists (answer phones, make appointments, check patients in and out) and fill in as required


  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask
  • CPR certified (training provided as needed)

Required Education and Experience

  • No educational requirements
  • At least two years of experience as a billing/credentialing specialist in a medical practice

Preferred Skills and Abilities

  • Spanish-speaking
