Title: Medical Assistant Triage

Reports to: Office Manager


  • Monday through Friday
  • 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (or later if required to complete all daily activities)
  • On occasion some evening and weekend work may be required


  • Full time
  • Hourly
  • Includes benefits

The primary functions of the triage medical assistant are to facilitate smooth, timely and efficient back office patient communication and to maintain back office supplies.

Essential Functions

  • Answer the back office phone line
  • Make decisions on scheduling for same day sick visits
  • Call patients with test results
  • Process patient referrals
  • Monitor and maintain vaccination inventory, both private and VFC
  • Order medical supplies as needed and stock all rooms every day
  • Maintain lead testing results on state websites weekly
  • Assist with special projects as needed
  • When time permits perform the function of Medical Assistant
  • Maintain HIPPA and OSHA compliance at all times

Non-Essential Functions

  • Generate reports as required
  • Support the marketing and advertising efforts
  • Cross train on the basic tasks of the receptionists (answer phones, make appointments, check patients in and out) and the basic tasks of the scribe and fill in as required


  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask
  • CPR certified (training provided as needed)

Required Education and Experience

  • No educational requirements
  • At least two years of experience as a medical assistant

Preferred Skills and Abilities

  • Spanish-speaking
